It can be really stressful when your dog doesn't come back when you call them.
When dogs hit 5 months old there can be an influx of hormones which means they are investigating the world, pushing boundaries and getting into mischief. This can place them in danger.
We help you understand this tricky period and how you can manage it to help keep your dog safe.
Please note this is not for dogs who are fearful, reactive or aggressive towards other dogs. Please look at our behavioural page for guidance. You may also like to sign up to our webinar.
Why join recall classes?
We focus heavily on manners and keeping the brain occupied and stimulated.
Recall is a fundamental life skill. They can be in grave danger near busy roads. If a dog is able to practice a behaviour during this time it can become engrained so training and guidance during this period is imperative.
It can feel that they have selective deafness.
We help you understand this tricky period and how you can manage it to help keep your dog safe and you sane.
Our dogs have an influx of hormones during this period and it can be harder to train them, that's why I'm here to support guide and give you management tools as well as training.

Who is this not for?
- You want the full hour of training with you - there are other people in the class (imagine this as an exercise class rather than a personal and private training session)
- You want a quick fix and want to use equipment such as choke chains and do not want to find out about alternatives. We don't use these equipment as they can cause pain. Some dogs even get used to the pain too so they don't work. Moreover some poor dogs can associate the sight of something such as a person with pain around their neck which can lead to reactivity/aggression - then you'll have a behavioural challenge on your hands not just a training one!

My dog Monty and I had a great experience working with Lisa at St Paws. I'd been struggling with him being quite nervous around other dogs, and reacting and growling as a result. We worked on association with other dogs and Lisa shared alot of things to train in to help us in different situations. It's a long process but we've definitely seen positive progress and continue to work on what Lisa has taught us. Lisa was very patient, gave lots of good insights and clearly has alot of experience and knowledge around dogs, their triggers and reactions.

I've just had such a positive walk paying attention to his body language - he played nicely on the open space with a little white dog (they were doing mirrored play bows) until she rolled over and I called him back to me. He came back straight away :)
