Dog Training

As dogs get older you can experience the 'terrible teens'! It can feel as if your dog has selective deafness and their training has disappeared. We can provide dedicated training to support you with any training issues as your dog develops and grows.

Dog Training

You love your dog and want the best for them. Sometimes their behaviour can be stressful and painful - jumping up, grabbing food, pulling on the lead. They can hurt others and themselves.

Our training encompasses a holistic approach, which takes your dogs learning stage, their likes and dislikes and their learning style into account.

I swoop in and provide plan of action so you can take steps to change your dog's behaviour.

I'm here to support you - I'm just on the other end of the phone inbetween sessions.

The training is bespoke and personalised rather than a one fit’s all approach – there’s no other dog that’s quite like your dog or YOU afterall!

We do not use balanced or aversive methods which can be painful, dangerous and affect the bond you have with your dog.

If your dog is not coming when you call them, picking up items they should not or pulling on the lead, get in touch.

Equally if you want your dog to learn new tricks for mental stimulation following an operation or to just to learn something new I'd love to support you.

Get in touch

I help you get to the root of your dogs behaviour and the motivation and emotion behind it. Some behaviours can be for different reasons so I identify what is happening and provide a plan for you to follow.  It would be wonderful for you to tell others in your dog's life about the techniques you use (parents, family, friends, dog walkers) : consistency is key.

Are you experiencing the following problems with your dog?

Are they running off in the park leaving you stressed and worried about their whereabouts?

Do they jump up and have they caused pain  or injury to themselves, or to you or others?

Do they mouth, chew or nibble on your home items?

I’m here to help. The more time that is left not training means the more chances your dog has to practice a behaviour over and over again.. afterall what gets rewarded gets repeated!

Who is this not for?

You want a quick fix and only want to only use equipment such as slip leads/choke chains and do not want to find out about alternatives. We don't use these equipment as they can cause pain. Some dogs even get used to the pain too so they don't work.

Moreover, some poor dogs can associate the sight of something such as a person with pain around their neck which can lead to reactivity/aggression - then you'll have a behavioural challenge on your hands not just a training one!

Why me?

I am studying at  the prestgious University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) School of Vet Studies  and study for hundreds of hours so that I can provide the best service to you and your dog. The course costs thousands of pounds.

I have worked and shadowed certified clinical animal behaviourists.

The training and behaviour industry is unregulated, and a wild wild west out there meaning ANYONE can buy a £10 groupon course and call themselves a behaviourist. This can mean outdated methods are used, timing is wrong during training and you train the wrong thing, or trainers scare your dog mentally or even physically if certain equipment is used.

Payment

Do you work for the NHS? If so there is 10 % off services for you.

Pre Questionnaire

Sometimes the challenge you're facing may not be due to lack of training, it may be that your dog is feeling worried or avoiding something therefore, before we start training I'll send a questionnaire so I can let you know your options and the service that will best for you and your dog.

How does it work

• We have an initial call to see how I can help you and if we’re the right fit for each other

• We arrange a time to come and meet you.

• I set up a Whatsapp group so we can keep in touch and offer support – a trainer in your pocket - if you'd like.

• You receive a work guide within 72 hours on advice to follow. If your session is on a Friday this will be with you by the Tuesday to allow for the weekend. • We send 3 main techniques to focus on. Please note payment is required before having access to this - if it is paid after 6pm you will receive it the following day.

Why choose to work with me?

  • I studied animal behaviour at University (With the Edinburgh Vet School).
  • I am a candidate member of FAB clinicians
  • I am a provisional member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors

Why does that matter?

I spent thousands of pounds and hundreds of hours completing a rigurous course at university to offer the best service to you and your dog. My studies mean I'm placed to help understand your dog's mind and their behaviour.

As a member of associations I have to adhere to strict professional conduct too.
